ACES Wheelchair Basketball Report

The day kicked off at 10am with the first game. There were 10 different teams who took part. The first part of the day consisted of two different pools playing in a round robin tournament. This decided the two teams from each group of five who would go through into the semi finals.

The BEJSC entered a team composed of the Junior Committee members. We made it into the semi finals, but were beaten by a talented team called “Wells 1” - the eventual champions of the tournament. Nonetheless the BEJSC team went into the Bronze medal match, to win the game and claim 3rd place. It was a very close game that regular time and extra time could not produce a winner from. The bronze match therefore went into sudden death, with BEJSC managing to get the winning score just in time.

The day was well attended and as much as £1500 was raised to help young people get into the exciting (and tiring!) sport that is wheelchair basketball. Thank you to the organisers ACES for hosting such a successful tournament. Bring on next year!
Joe - BEJSC Junior Committee Chairman.
