The Basketball section runs two sessions on a Friday after school.
The Junior session is aimed at children between 7 and 12. This session has a regular turnout and has competed in the Bucks Junior league. It starts at 5:30pm and finishes at 7:00pm. We have four coaches who are all experienced and 3 play for the senior section. They learnt to play through BEJSC and are giving all they gained back. The head coach is also a fully qualified BBL referee. We will work them hard, but it is made to enjoyable whilst learning the basics.
Unfortunately, due to circumstances out of the control of the BEJSC volunteers who run the Junior Session, it will not be able to continue during the Summer term 2013. We hope to have the sessions restarted for the new school year in September. Please refer to our website and its Latest News section for information about the restart in September.
The Senior session is for 13 years+. It runs from the end of the Junior session, 7:00pm to 9:00pm This session is more about advancing onto more complex forms of the game, on both offence and defence. It also proves to be quite a good fitness training exercise for most of our senior members. While previous experience is not absolutely, being familiar with shooting, dribbling and passing is advised. The coach has lots of experience in game situations having played all over the country for Milton Keynes Lions, as well as playing at his old school RGS High Wycombe. He first came to BEJSC to play with the seniors and now runs the session. All are welcome.
We are currently looking for new members, particularly in the 14-16 age group (year 9-11). If you are interested in joining the basketball section, or just coming down to see what its about, please contact us or just turn up at 7:00pm on Friday.
